Video Portal Research

While I attended North Carolina State University I focused my research and investigations into three specific categories: motion graphics, interactive media and design education, which led me to video portal websites. I began to study how we view and interact with videos online.

As a designer and a student I found that very few tools exist to allow online participants to critically review moving image content (films, motion graphics sequences, animations). With the technology that exists today these types of tools are a very real possibility.

Extensive research was conducted on video portal web sites. (such as AOL video, ABC.com, YouTube.com, Google Video, Apple’s Quicktime Trailers, Cosmeo, and Vimeo.com.) Research was generated through user testing, interface analysis, secondary research, and character profiling. This research was then visually documented in the form of an information map.

Above is a poster documenting the research and references.
