As Part of a graduate studio class we were asked to organize, and develop a research symposium. Our symposium was focused on the shifting role of graphic designers, and how participatory culture was changing our place in the business world. It was a two day long event. As part of this event a small group of students, including myself, conducted a collaborative group exercise. It served as an icebreaker and demonstration of how designers must work together in this digital world.
We executed an investigation in lightwriting and its typographical possibilities.
We carried out as the opening project in a graduate symposium, this study provided a collaborative framework on which a group of participants created messages by visually articulating typographic form. They were asked to complete the phrase:
“The best way to shape the future is to…”
